Summer is here, time to CHEER :D

I CANNOT believe that the first year of college officially ENDED.
*wipes sweat off of forehead from studying for finals*

So much happened this year, and I'm so appreciative for all the amazing opportunities, for all the amazing new people I've met, and for the ones who have supported me all along!
This year has been amazing to me both academically and extracurricular wise!
It's sometimes an outer body experience for me to even look back at older posts and think "whoa! I did that-that was real life, not a dream?!"
I've worked so hard this year to get great grades, and succeed career wise, and I'm very proud of myself <3

That's why...this summer is all mine, MiNe, MINE, because I deserve it after all the hard work and energy I've put in!
I've already started my bucket list and I can't wait to cross out everything over my list!
It's so refreshing to say the least, to toss my textbooks, and finally get my creative flow going!
This summer's word is CAREFREE, and that's just what I'll be!

I've already faced one of my fears by sitting FRONT ROW on Kinda Ka at Six Flags which was the most AMAZING experience! I went from being scared of getting on a baby coaster to THIS, and I can thank the amusement park Gods!

Forget Superman, here comes Superwoman ;)

Flower Child at  !
Dyeing my roses as if I were the cards painting roses in Alice in Wonderland
Ke$ha would be proud of my use of glitter
I'm going to be creating A LOT of collaborative art this summer such as painting murals (and flowers!) and making mosaics with talented artists I've worked in the past with, and new artists that I can't wait to learn from!
Forever living in the big city as if we live in a small city!

SUMMER 2013 BABY <3 !!!
Live it up! What are your plans for the hot days ahead?!

Happy Mother's Day!

Dear Mom,
You are MY ROCK. Through thick and thin, you have always been my biggest support and have always strongly believed in my aspirations. Thank you for inspiring and encouraging me to dream big, be myself, and reach for the stars! I'm in awe of your strength and it's what I look up to! When the world walks out, you walk in, and I couldn't be more thankful for your love, nurturing, and care. I love you SOOOOOOOOO much, and I can't wait to see what the future brings for both of us :'DD !!!
xoxo, Nova

P.S. Readers, please show some love by checking out my talented mother's website HERE! and see just how much my mom inspires me! Like mother, like daughter!

In the words of my girl Iggy Azelea-to the women who always believed in my dreams:
"Do anything for my Mama, I love you. One day I'll pay you back for the sacrifice that ya managed to muscle, sixteen, you sent me through customs so, all aboard my spaceship to Mercury. Turn first at the light that's in front me cause every night I'mma do it like it's my last. This dream is all that I need, cause its all that I ever had. Now get this work" !
Thank you mom :'DD

I'm so thankful for being a young woman, and having the amazement knowing that one day in the far future, I'll be a mom myself, and will be holding a miracle in my own body. And then, I'll know what having unconditional love for your own baby feels like. Girls, isn't that an honor to know that one day there will be a second heart beating in you?! #Godisgood :')

Lower Eastside Girls Club Walk-a-thon Event

I have been an active member of the Lower Eastside Girls Club for 5 years now, and this organization has truly helped me tremendously in so many ways. Their support system, and opportunities have forever changed my life, and have influenced my passions for the future. To say the least, its unbelievable what a few dedicated mothers with a dream for providing a local girls club in the Lower Eastside because there was only a boys club, created. From having the first meetings in various basements, to me growing up in a 1 room space with them, to now touring the new 3 story building sincerely, (as cheesy as it sounds) makes me warm inside. These women and girls are my second family and I couldn't be more thankful for having a place where I can be myself, and am encouraged to dream big. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Lower Eastside Girls Club!

The talented, and smart Jasmine was my assistant tour guide, and joined the Girls Club about a year ago, and dreams of working in the CSI :)

Creative Time at the Domino Sugar Factory

Creative Time hosted a feast gathering for artist Julian Schnabel to celebrate his work at the Domino Sugar Factory. The company is notorious and respected for helping artists' visions come to life, and supporting various mediums of expression. Julian Schnabel's art has been recognized in MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Guggenheim Museum; etc. In 2000 he won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Globes for his work on the films The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and he also received an Academy Award nomination for directing as well! Whether his project involves film making, painting, or sculpture, Julian always brings a unique touch to his pieces. It was an honor to help assist at the event that celebrates keeping art alive for many years to come.
