Change Your Perspective

Moon, are you calling me out to come and play?

If you carefully look, these glasses say 8-3, and in 8th grade I went around school and observed everything through these lenses. Goes to show how sadly when we get older, we loose our taste for spontaneity, and exploration - the traits that will remain with me no matter the age. Allow yourself to be fascinated by the little things especially when they're unplanned, and answer the moon's call for attention-call for it, talk to it, nurture it, as its been lighting your darkest of nights all these years. Appreciate and thank nature.

Covered Ceiling

Moments should be observed, felt, appreciated, in solitude before they can be pleasurable in companionship.

As you progress to help others, you're helping yourself find out how to help yourself.

Before you're blessed you release your sins; before you forgive you release your frustration; before you kiss you release your fear.

There is a difference between doubts and insecurities.

Doubts being a phase, merely a questioning you should have exhibited much earlier; a break in you cycle; a wheel that pops; a horse that stops; a light bulb that cracks; a bank account that stays empty. Re-charged, Re-lived, Re-learned although you know the cycle and how its supposed to be.

Insecurities being something you still have to overcome; cleaning your attick empty of past inhibitions that never allowed you to Re-Do.

A carnival game that holds no prize but rather food for thought.

FOOD. FOR. THOUGHT.
THOUGHTS. ARE. CONSUMED. LIKE. FOOD.
FOOD. GIVES. COMFORT.
RELEASING. THOUGHTS. GIVES. RELEASE.

Silence testifies your true feelings. Let the silence guide you.

How can people not define themselves as curious? How can you not be curious about life, when there are no answers about it? It's the equation in which we strive to "define x", but our worksheet's say "undefined."

*inserts Sound of Music Soundtrack* "I AM SIXTEEN GOING ON SEVENTEEN, BABY I'M ON THE BRINK!"

OMG. I AM 17!!!!!!!
*pinches herself*
What can I say, turning 17 is a BIG DEAL.
You know why?
Because it's literally the LAST YEAR of me being a minor, and next year I'll be entering the mysterious, scary, weird, ADULT world.
^ I need one of these for New York, because New York is a totally different madhouse on its own!
As a Senior in high school, I can't express how proud I am of myself for surviving through the rigorous months of applying to colleges! All those essays, supplements, mailing out items; etc. are DONE, and now there's nothing left to do but wait. Any Senior can agree that when you're done, its almost like you can't believe it, and you keep checking your Common App for those little Green Triangles- this my friends means that I'm done with the application as it beams at my face while I check over my crossed out to-do lists making sure everything is in!
This triangle reminds of those therapist tests where they ask you "what do you see in this photo?"

Well...to me it represents
-accomplishment
-completion
-success
-destiny
-hard work
-the future <3
CLASS OF 2012 BABY!

"I am 17 going on 18, and I'll take care of you!"
"I AM 16 GOING ON 17, BABY I'M ON THE BRINK!"

Oh & we simply can't forget that I am officially allowed to read Seventeen Magazine NOW, although I've been reading it since I was 12, and have been highly educated in girl world, and trust me the focus of it isn't  just makeup and nail polish, even though painting your right hand is a huge accomplishment for a righty, and it takes time to master the perfect cat eye which I'm VERY happy with! It's actually pretty unbelievable how many ways you can do it! <--- *cue* for my future post for my readers <3 !

Keeping it classy since 1994 ;D AOWW!

Not to mention I'm so thrilled that my room fully expresses who I am and my personality. Each wall tells a different story, and I want to personally thank the walls that have nurtured my growth for years. Every teenager's room changes dramatically over the years as posters are replaced, and new pictures are framed.
Out with the old, in with the NEW!

*YAY* to this year's reading of 17 magazine!

^If I still had a myspace, I would of bedazzled my wall with this photo.
*moment of silence for my myspace phase ending*
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my readers and thank you for following me!
Following is super easy and you don't need a blogger to do so, just click FOLLOW and you'll be an insider to the city I call home! Stay tuned for the upcoming 2012 posts!

"May your coming year be filled with magic, dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."

Girl's Club @ Bust Magazine Event

The Girl's Club was featured at the Bust Magazine Event! Our pink-tastic-girl-enthusiastic (excuse me as I go write a hit song with these lyrics with my girl band in my grandparents' garage) section displayed products that are all fully fair-trade and handmade by girls themselves! All the proceeds from the sales went directly to the Girl's Programming to raise social, economical, environmental awareness to the generation of girls to come!
Products can be purchased at La Tiendita, the Girl's Club Shop in Essex Market, or the Sweet Bake Shop-either way, all purchases will change the lives of young girls and give them the skills to dream and realize their aspirations.

The Girl's Club Mission in which I strongly believe in!

Are YOU a Girl's Club NOVIO?!

Talent Unlimited High School attends the Bloomberg Financial Literacy Night

Talent Unlimited was invited to the Bloomberg building on 59th street and Lexington to take part in a financial Literacy Game called Ne$t Egg! High above the city, the top floor had a crystal clear view of the beautiful city I call home, New York City. The game taught me alot about investments, profits, taxes, and about the economical system we have set up in the United States. For participating, the Bloomberg building donated the board games to our school, where students can gain knowledge of being educated with money in the fun of a game.

Talent Unlimited's YAAAAAAAAAASS hand gesture <3 !!!

Scheherazade: Talent Unlimited's Holiday Show

At Talent Unlimited's Holiday Show this past Friday, students came together to experience all the crafts of all five majors: drama, dance, instrumental, musical theater, and vocal. My personal connection to the dance piece Scheherazade was the fact that I was the Teacher's Assistant and created most of the costumes pictured below. Glue guns + jewels + sparkles + love of color = a stage full of shinning bright dancers!
It's the small details that make the BIG picture.

The girl that speaks to the moon.

And so I sit alone in an empty, Rite Aid parking lot speaking to the bright moon that hurts my eyes.
Who am I speaking to...God...A higher power...Myself...to Nature?
Why is it that I have the impulse on a freezing night to numb my body with the air's cold breath, and the peace of me taking the moment in?

Should I question my actions, or should I let them be?
Often in art, or literature, we question what the artist was thinking, and at times we get into a even deeper meaning then the one thought about (or ironically perhaps not thought about) by the author or the artist.

Why do we as humans feel the need to constantly dissect, over think, and overload our mind with daunting rhetorical questions?

Why is it that human nature makes us ask someone a question when we have already answered it in our head as they debate out loud in front of us?
Why is it that everyone's so busy and doesn't have time to meditate and think quietly?
Is everyone ACTUALLY busy, or is everyone 'BEING BUSY' just to distract themselves away from their thoughts, and insecurities?

People don't open up to the difficulties they're experiencing and instead blockade them as if they don't exist. No matter the situation or life experience someone has, they're all common themes-happiness, frustration, low confidence, body image, doubts;etc.
We can ALL relate to each other, but it's sadly religion, culture and society that separates us, instead of unifying us based on our similarities. We are the human race.
My intensity can't be silenced. I will question rather than please.
I love being alive, this awake, this enthusiastic, this passionate, this loud...this extroverted...this aware...this observatory...this curious.
And so I remain talking to the moon, as if the bold white light is guiding my path into the future.

Teen Vogue Partayy!

What can I say...I'm in love with Teen Vogue! You can't picture the excitement and adrenaline I feel each month a new issue arrives in my mailbox. I quickly squeal and rush to the cosiest reading spot and get inspired from the glossy pages under my fingers. Over the summer, it was such an honor to get a tour of Teen Vogue personally from the editors <3 ! (HERE) The office and editors have such a vibrant, opportunistic energy and a 'ready to work' attitude. Fashion is no glitz and glamour for the most part when running a magazine! It's all about running errands, styling for photo shoots, breaking heels from running when returning dresses, re-visions and re-visions, upcoming due dates and hours in the office that produce the satisfaction all fashionistas encounter when the new issue arrives. I respect the editors and interns so HIGHLY and I truly appreciate when the fabulous editors take time our of their busy schedule to share the excitement for Teen Vogue with their readers! Much love for all the glamorous faces below! *Applauds*
