it's great the way designers are stepping out of their field of humans into the plastic world, but maybe they don't realize that this move could frantically hurt the self image girls have even more desperately.
BARBIE WAS FIRST CREATED AS A SEX TOY FOR MEN NAMED LILI IN GERMANY...

 i bet this never crossed your mind that the barbie sleeping in your storage was once a sex symbol.
girls in china day today are working all day long labors just to create her body.
girls are starving to be like her.
girls are getting operations to become her.
girls wish they had blond hair and blue eyes.
girls are influenced everyday by her...  & perhaps its time we stop this.
why isn't her body structure sculpted with curves. her body is so out of proportion that she wouldn't be able to survive as an actual women, or get her period or give birth. 
we have made barbie to destroy all means of normality.

POINT BLANK =
Instead of spending consuming time to put fabric on a barbie, add a brand name, and earn an expensive profit, why don't we ban child labor in 3rd world countries, and make barbie a doll that could actually function as a woman.


 

Fairytale Fashion Show 2010 by Diana Eng

As an intern for Diana Eng of Project Runway, I closely helped Diana accomplish her Spring Fashion Show held at Eye Beam Studios down at Chelsea Piers. Her fashion show below is one you've never seen. Diana is all about experimenting with technology and uses LED lights in her designs. Can you believe this- an inflatable dress. how cool is that! imagine it was full of helium and you could fly. imagine in the middle of class you press the RED button- HEY WAIT! didn't Dexter tell you not to press it?!  but after all you are Didi and you press it anyway and you blast through the ceiling and somehow you don't end up breaking all your bones. yeah this is exactly what it makes me feel like.

Afterwards I snoopped around to find the inspirations for the Fall 2010 show, and I found some gorgeous orange and black ruffeled complections. Up close and personal to the collection. Can't imagine amongst the jungle of photographers and clients, was this piercing color.

And then there were classic black pieces with accents of gold

Substantially looking at the boards featuring all the model's I realized  that fashion week is like the Oscar's for actors, or Grammy's for performers. This is their performance. Walking as if the sidewalk is their catwalk. Everyone has watched America's Next Top Model I'm positive-it's hard to conquer. And yes, it is a talent.

I AM AN EMOTIONAL CREATURE by Eve Ensler

I passed the audition to perform Eve Ensler's (author of the Vagina Monologues) new book: I AM AN EMOTIONAL CREATURE. Working personally along side Eve Ensler and creative director Rosario Dawson was such a pleasure. Not only did we prepare for the performance in the beautiful luxurious Bowery Hotel, but we also went through the whole book, passage by passage with their reference of teaching us what is currently going on in this world. V-Day Hosted a Benefit Reading at the Urban Zen Center At Stephan Weiss Studio on Feb. 5, 2010. Some special guests stopped by including Donna Karan, Rosie O' Donnell,  and Tyra Banks (who gave us a special appearance- wished us good luck, and to be fierce.)  Its such an inspiration to work with these beautiful healthy-clear thinking enthusiastic women making a difference.

 I got invited to attend the Glamour Woman Awards this year for 2010. & let me just warn you now, I was overwhelmed by all the brave women standing on stage.
all the independent, confident, courageous, woman accepting this years round of the Glamour Award.
What can I say? Perhaps my pictures will speak the thousands of words I can't describe as to how important all these women are in the 21st century.
